Richard Gasquet

Australian Open Tennis Betting GasquetFrenchman Richard Gasquet is the 9th ranked player in the world, but according to many sections of the media should be considerably higher. Some have said that, at his best, he is more talented than even Roger Federer, and Federer himself admits that Gasquet is a potential huge threat on the ATP Tour. Unfortunately, the Frenchman, never seems to be at his best at the right times and has yet to reach a Grand Slam Final. He has five ATP Titles to his name and has been a runner-up in two more.

His best Grand Slam Tournament to date was the semi Final at Wimbledon in 2007 where he was beaten by eventual winner Federer in four sets. He has reached the 4th Round at the US Open twice, in 2005 and 2006, but disappointed last year being knocked out in the second round. Gasquet reached the 4th round of the Australian Open last year, but was beaten by compatriot, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. He has not won a title since September 2007 but seemed in good form last year and could well be worth using free tennis bets on.

Gasquet, who is only 21, is known for his powerful and precise one handed backhand and for his flair and shot making ability. His game is definitely an all court style but can rally with the best from the baseline if needs be. He is incredibly quick around the court and often wins points that others give up again. If he has a weakness it is probably desire and maybe even confidence. At his best he is a wonderful tennis player, but if his shots start to wanders off target and he is pressured, he sometimes crack’s under the strain. It would be good for this Tournament if Richard can play to his full potential he is a joy to watch and could have the Australian Open crowd in raptures.
